I agree about the character sheets. It's hilarious to fly through character creation in PCGen and then get bogged down trying to put the numbers into FG2.

Thankfully, when I first played, D'arcy walked me through most things except dice rolling. Working from a laptop, the push and release of dice rolling forces me to use two hands while rolling dice. Thankfully the hotkeys will fix that particular problem.

I think FG2 could be a powerful tool, but I think there's a big learning curve. By our third session, we might have a better idea how to do what we are going to do.

I hope.

Ah too bad--Eberron is a great setting if it's run in an Eberrony way. I found that when the party "set up" in a town--for us it was Darguun--we really spent time digging on the flavor of the place, we interacted with local officals, had a favorite bar, were asked to speak at the explorer's league dinner, dealt with crime bosses, etc. and it felt far less like a crawl and more like home :-)

Re: situation two ... Does he read your blog?! :D
Seriously, is your DM the only one on your group that DMs? Maybe someone else could volunteer to run a short game--maybe a "one-off" in a new setting--Star Wars, Dark Heresy, Pathfinder, Modern--that people would be interested in dabbling in--just get the group reinvogorated a little. One-offs can be really fun. You're not breaking off the DMs epic campaign, just playing a fun one where the stakes are lower, characters can branch out, or you can try new classes, and maybe whatever you guys discover in this new setting will also influence and reinvigorate your DM's ongoing, epic campaign! Good luck!

The only time we've been out together without Christina was to a wedding last summer. We got until 8:30 PM before we got the call.

It gets easier with two. Right?

Right?

Makes perfect sense. Basically, rather than disliking modern military campaigns, you don't want to be a grunt. You want your character to be a hero.

I concur. You'll be welcome into my spec ops campaign, were you can be Delta, SAS, JTF-2, or whatever strikes your fancy. None of them unheroic and none of them grunts.
